All alone... so
soon?
[ Saturday - April 20, 2013 ]
It's been a while since I've had any semblance of a long ride or a
somewhat long ride. So I told the wife I was going to head
out on a short ride the night before. On early Saturday
morning, before the family woke up, I prep this monster...
and went on a short ride. 80+ miles isn't something to brag
about, but it's definitely more than the usual 15 mile commute to
work.
As I turn off the freeway and head into the hills, with the
greenery rolling pass me, I can't help but reflect on the recent
event that has happened to my friends. Normally there is
anywhere between two to seven of us on a trip, even a short one,
but today I'm solo riding. This is somewhat of a prep ride
for the longer central
coast ride in early May. I don't mind the solo
ride, as I've been doing a lot of it lately, but I can't help
think of my friends and all of the event that has happened to
them. Some are ill and can't ride at the moment (my heart
goes out to the one and he knows who he is), another is bikeless
because of an accident, and others are now preoccupied with
family. I knew that eventually I will end up doing solo
rides in the future, but I never anticipated that it would come so
soon. Still I continue on by myself and wish them all the
best. Perhaps sometime later in the future, we will all
gather once again.
The country side and the appearance of me owning my own 50 miles
stretch of road sooth the spirit as I glide through the beautiful
blue sky and green hills.
