When is a bike a dick?
(Behaves like one...)
[ Monday - March 19, 2018 ]
It's the question of the week. When is a bike a dick? Or
at least behaves like one. It's when almost every clutch pull
results in stiff or not being able to shift. This is
especially the case when stopping at a red light. Of late, at
the 5K miles mark, the GS has been behaving badly at almost every
stop. In some cases I have to stomp on the shift lever to get
the bike to go into 1st gear from 2nd. In one particular
instance, I couldn't eve get the bike out of second gear and had to
throttle up to start the bike in second. As to the reason for
this behavior, I have no idea. I'm guessing it's might have to
do with an engine oil change. Regardless, it's a pain in the
butt. I don't recall having this problem on the hex head
R12R. The hex head has separate transmission oil vs. engine
oil. Since this is a wet clutch situation, I'm hoping it's
just dirty engine oil. Dirty engine oil, dirty clutch
oil. At leas that's the thought.
[Update - September 4, 2018 ]
It has nothing to do with the engine oil and clutch oil. There
is something more sinister in this problem.
Push rod, slave cylinder,
master cylinder... it's none of that.
